CONTEST

The International Music Festival of Extremadura wants to help and promote bassoonists, calling the First FIME Contest. 

 

1. PARTICIPANTS

 

  • Bassoonists of Spanish nationality, residents in Spain and bassoonists of any nationality may participate. 

  • There is no age or level limit for candidates. 

  • The Contest is one more activity of the First edition of FIME and it will be necessary to be registered either as an active student or listener for the activities organized by FIME. 

 

 

2. REGISTRATION

 

  • The registration period is until October 15, 2022.

  • Send an email to fime@ fimextremadura.com with the following documents:

  1. DNI or Passport of the participant. 

  2. Resume of the participant. 

  3. Contest Registration.

  4. Registration for the Festival. 

  5. Proof of registration payment.

  • Make the payment of €45 for   the registration of the Contest, to the following bank account of the Organizing Association:

3. DATE AND PLACE 

 

The Contest will take place on November 10 and 13, 2022 at the Manuel Rojas Conference Center in Badajoz (Spain). 


 

4. PHASES AND REPERTOIRE

 

The Contest consists of 2 phases. 

 

  • Knockout Stage:  

It will take place on Thursday, November 10, 2022 at 5:00 p.m. 

​

Mandatory works for this first phase are: 

- First and Second movement (without cadenzas) of the concerto for bassoon and orchestra in Bb M, KV 191 WAMozart. 

- Variations and Rondo in Bb M, Op.57 JWKalliwoda 

 

  • Final phase:  (maximum of 4 finalists)

It will take place on Sunday, November 13, 2022 at 12 noon.

A concert by A.Vivaldi to choose between: 

- Concerto for bassoon and orchestra in C Major RV 472

- Concerto for bassoon and orchestra in D minor RV 481

- Concerto for bassoon and orchestra in G minor RV 495

​

 

5. PIANIST AND ACCOMPANYING MUSICIANS

 

The elimination phase will be accompanied by piano.

  • FIME gives the option of having the Festival's accompanying pianist free of charge. FIME's accompanying pianist is Anahit Avakimyan. 

  • If the participant wants to carry out a previous rehearsal, it will be at the participant's expense. To contact: +34 625 01 23 49 (Anahit).

  • All participants will have to mark if they come with their pianist or if they choose the option of the accompanying pianist of the Contest. 

 

The final phase will be accompanied by a string and harpsichord quintet, led by maestro Juan Pablo Valencia Heredia. 

  • All accompanying musicians are professional musicians. 

  • The finalists of the Contest will have the option of being able to rehearse for 30 minutes with the string ensemble, harpsichord and director, on Saturday, November 12, 2022, time to be defined. 


 

6. PRIZES

 

  • First prize : €500 + Diploma 

  • Second prize : €250 +  Diploma 

  • Third prize : €100 + Diploma 

  • Audience prize : €100 

 

The public prize will be through the public attending the final round of the Contest.

All the public will have the right to vote.

*The jury may declare some or all of the prizes void. 


 

7. JURY

  • Miguel Puchol 

​

​The court's decision will be final.
